800115 - Borgeson Steering Box Conversions is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits with some modifications Bought this as I wanted to improve the drivability of my 55 Victoria. Also, didn't want the clutter of all the hoses of the original power steering. Gear physically bolted on and had plenty of room. But, the steering shaft was angled to the center of the car by roughly 3/4 inch and angled down 2 inches. I called Borgeson tech and asked if I could modify the adaptor plate by slotting the bolt holes and was told no problem, and I would also have to notch the frame (1 1/2") to allow the gear to rotate up on firewall end and down on the other. I also added spacers (1/4") to the front two mounting holes to angle the steering shaft back to the left to center it. After the modification everything lined up and worked out nice. I did not have to notch the adaptor mounting holes as the holes in the frame were loose enough to allow the gear to rotate. So now if there is a warranty issue I should have no problems as I might have if I had modified it. Since I have the equipment the modifications were no problem for me to perform but a method to cut the frame and to weld back the re-enforcement will need to be available to anyone making the change. Who knows, my Victoria may have had the body shift and frame mounts collapse over the years. I haven't got to that point in my restoration.. I rated it 4 stars only because of the modifications. Otherwise Highly recommend.

The 1953 Ford victoria has a horn wire that passes through the original gearbox. How do you accomodate the horn wire that passes through the center of the steering shaft on the original steering gearbox?
