Rated 5 out of 5 by from Drop in and go go go!!! I ended up becoming close to the legendary George Barris and it was a humbling experience to do book reports on him in the 5th grade then getting to know hlm, doing work on the 1966 Batmobile and end up being the go to guy for various Barris car collectors. One way or the other through George Barris I was able to acquire one of four of the original KITTs from the show Knight Rider. Originally I fitted him with an aluminum headed 383 stroker along with all the needed goodies to put the power down. Well in short smoothness and drivability were marginal so I decided to sell the 383 right out of the car and purchase this engine. First off with the proper intake and exhaust system and proper tuning there is much more than the advertised “up to” horsepower numbers and I believe this is because then GM would have a hard time selling the next few upgrade offerings. This engine is smooth, powerful and put together right. It has zero issues pulling right to 5500 RPM while still making power and my transmission is set to shift at 5600 out of first and 5600 into the following gears all the while pulling hard. I would have to put it at say every bit as close to 325+ horsepower as one can get. A great value and still shows how after all these years a small block is a no-brainer for all around reliability and power. KITT is now smooth and happy. ******’remember, this engine is NOT a roller motor so you MUST ADD ZINC ADDITIVE because oil produced today does not contain it as it did years ago !!!! If you don’t use zinc additive you may wipe the cam and lifters out prematurely. This is not due to a defect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good quality I installed this engine into a 49 Cadillac restomod, it has a basic intake carburetor and exhaust the engine runs very smooth. from the appearance of the engine it looks to me like it's actually a new block and new head's. it does say made in Mexico cast on the Block and heads. the listing does not tell you it does not come with gaskets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Late Review Installed and tested Bought my 350 crate motor back in 2016 to replace the existing motor in 1983 Chevrolet P-30 step van with RV chassis. I use the vehicle as Ice Cream Truck. Installed new Intake and carburetor. New water pump, fuel pump, 100 AMP Alternator, New Aluminum Radiator, Braided Trans lines, New Distributor, plugs & wires, New power steering pump, New starter! Everything that touched the motor was replaced with the exception of the transmission. Cleaned the trans up and reused. To this date, Truck is making me money and has paid for itself 10 fold. Only issue I have is that the transmission is now slipping 1st to 2nd gear. Go figure! For this particular install I had to pull the engine from inside the cabin area. Also, the engine hoist arm would not extend far enough into the truck, I had to modify the arm by drilling a new hole for the pin which gave me more length and had to remove the passenger front wheel to get the engine puller feet under the truck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not bad I bought this motor a few weeks ago and it's nice for my 87 GMC Sierra classic. The only thing different I would of liked is if there was a color option instead of black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For helpful notes read this! I just installed this engine on an 86 Chevy K10 pickup. Very fun experience, I did it myself in my drive way with my own tools. Learned a lot and I am happy with this 350! A couple things to know that I’d like to share to others who are interested in this engine. For starters, yes it is a Chevrolet brand, but it is made in Mexico. A little disappointing to find out when I first bought this only because I try to buy everything USA made in my vehicle. Second, you do not need to buy any oil dipstick plugs, it comes with two different kinds one off each side. At the time Jegs recommended I buy their oil plug for 10$ and it didn’t not fit tightly, too loose so couldn’t use it. I used the plugs that came with the engine. It may look like it will slide in, but it won’t. Just used a mallet and lightly tapped it a few times until it was snug and fits just great. One plug you will need (if you don’t have original stock intake manifold) is a plug for one of the cylinder heads. Passenger side is already plugged but driver side is open, for temperature sending unit, if stock. Mine was not stock so had to buy a drain 3/4 inch plug from hardware store. Another note, the recommend breather JEGS recommends will not fit! The valve cover hole is too small...so either buy a smaller grommet (which is what I did) or buy different valve covers. I picked up a different grommet for my breather from O’Reilys for a couple bucks, not a big deal. A recommendation I can’t stress enough is buy the oil pump primer tool!! It’s essential for any new engine, only a one time use but it’s worth it to have a healthy engine. I filled it with 5 quarts of oil, then I ran that tool attached to a drill for about 5 minutes BEFORE starting the engine...This made sure the engine was fully lubricated, and fired up (after having to mess with my hei distributor) And for those who don’t know, you should run the engine at about 2000 rpm’s when first starting for about 20 minutes, then drain the oil. Drive it slow and EASY, nothing past half throttle...also be sure to alternate speeds on freeways, do all of this for 500 miles, then change oil again. After that you can drive it like you stole it. Overall I am happy with this engine, I plan on having this for at least 15-20 years. Don’t forget to tune your carburetor after install!! Thanks hope this review helped everybody

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good pick I bought and installed the engine about a month ago. Fired up immediately and idled perfectly . Engine is running great with a solid sound and good power response. I have no complaints. My only concern when ordering the engine was a lack of any warranty should it fail in the future. GM will only warranty if they install it at their dealerships. I confirmed this via my local dealership when I called.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast shipping I ordered on the Black Friday sale, Monday the trucking company called, said they would deliver the next day. Tuesday the truck rolled up, and I had my crate engine sitting in my garage. Don't have it running yet but it's going together as it should. Chevrolet could have sent better instructions, Google is your friend.

Looking to do an R&R with my 1989 firebird formula 350. I'm just wondering if it would be a simple pull out, bolt on the accessory components on this engine, and put the new one in without having to buy an extra kit or anything. Are there any suggestions?

    Asked by: Bob213
No, this is an early small block engine, you will need this type for an easy swap - https://www.jegs.com/i/ATK-Engines/059/DCN7/10002/-1

Camshaft specs for this engine shown as 194/202 duration & .383"/.401" lift however, these specs do not match anything in the list of factory camshafts. I was wondering if this was a typo or if you can provide a part number for this cam.

    Asked by: chevbuild
These are the correct specifications for the cam. GM created this cam for this crate engine.
