Chrysler 273-360ci Small Block 1964-2000

Note: The basic 273-360ci engines, produced since the mid-1960's, have remained relatively unchanged as far as the valve train is concerned. The 1964-91 engines used shaft type rocker arms which required some special changes in the camshaft design to allow oil to flow to the top of the engine and into the rocker arm shafts. Most of these early engines featured either grooved or offset holes in the third and fourth cam journal. In some instances a combination of both grooves and holes were employed. You must remember that if your engine has shaft type rocker arms there must be some groove or oiling hole combination on the cam journals. Chrysler began producing engines with hydraulic roller cams in 1986. These early roller cam engines still used the shaft mount rocker arms and had oil holes in the #2 and #4 bearing journal. Early 1986-91 318ci/5.2L and early 1987-91 360ci/5.9L engines equipped with hydraulic roller camshafts and lifters will allow conventional hydraulic, mechanical or roller camshafts and lifters to be installed in these engines, providing the appropriate components are used. In 1992 the new Magnum ''A'' engine was released using a pedestal style individual mount rocker arm design that oiled through the pushrod and did not have oil holes in the cam. There were also two different styles of snouts on the cams, the longer snout (.950'' from the first step) accommodates a fuel pump eccentric and the upper timing gear while the shorter snout (.650'' from the first step) came in the fuel injected engines that do not use a fuel pump eccentric. Using the wrong cam core will result in engine failure. It is very critical that the new cam match the old cam's characteristics.

Great for 360 4bbl. in medium to heavy-duty applications. Great performance cam for 318 with power brakes and A/C.

A perfect cam for O.E. replacement and daily street driven vehicles

These high torque camshafts by Comp Cams work very well on the street. Made for use with engines having a 9:1 or less compression ratio. They can be used in conjunction with most stock components, including intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds, carburetors and will not affect any vacuum or power accessories such as power brakes or steering. High Energy Cams will not affect air conditioning or your car's idle when the A/C is used. Normally, gas mileage will either remain the same or increase over a stock cam.

252H Series
Ideal for medium sized engines (300-350 c.i.) that require good low speed torque. This cam is a good ''all-around'' cam for family sedans and a great performance cam for turbocharged V-6 and V-8 engines. The 252H cam is a good replacement cam for O.E.M. that works with most stock valve train components. It also works with most overdrive transmissions and high gear ratios.

260H Series
The perfect cam for vans, family sedans, pickups and tow vehicles. Provides exceptional power and a gas mileage increase, especially on the highway. With its great torque and throttle response, the 260H cam can also be used for O.E.M. replacement in most big block applications. The 260H's idle is smooth in large engines with stock exhaust systems. With headers, the 260H will produce a slight exhaust sound.

268H Series
This is a very versatile cam. It is a great high performance cam for small blocks and a powerful cam for big blocks. With its noticeable idle and great all-around power, the 268H cam is great for daily driven performance vehicles. The 268H cam is an ideal cam for pickup drivers who want major power increases. It is also good for big blocks towing heavy loads equipped with lower optional rear end gears.
