    86914 - Dorman Electrical Push-Pull Switches is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I bought this switch to control the headlights in a project car and I still intend to use it for that purpose HOWEVER before I even installed it I found a potentially dangerous manufacturing defect. One of the tabs which holds the case closed was touching one of the contacts (see picture attached) which in fairness would only be a problem if the outer case was grounded. The vehicle I intend to mount this switch in has a metal dashboard which is grounded, had I not noticed the defect it would have caused an immediate short circuit when I turned to headlights on. This should be a reminder to everyone to inspect your parts and ALWAYS use safety fuses. Were this switch to be used in a similar application WITHOUT a fuse it could easily start a fire behind your dashboard and potentially burn your car down. The only other issue I found was the knob which appears to be chrome is actually plastic which isn't a problem for me as I intend to replace it with the stock knob from the car I install it in. If you're aware of potential problems and don't mind dealing with them then this switch is probably fine for you. I gave a 1 star rating because of the potential fire hazard.
