Electroplating at home is easier than you think when you use this Tin Zinc Electroplating System. The Eastwood Tin Zinc Electroplating System will bring back the original luster to properly prepared metal parts, while providing a corrosion resistant, protective plating similar to chrome but without the expense, hassles or hazards. You can plate practically any metal part right at home, including copper, brass, and steel (not for aluminum, die-cast, pot metal or stainless).

How it works: Make sure parts are thoroughly degreased and de-rusted before you start electroplating at home. Electroplating uses electrical current to pull small amounts of metal from the positively charged tin-zinc anode bar, through the electrolyte solution, and onto the negatively charged piece to be plated. Plating begins immediately once the piece is submerged into the solution. The longer the piece is submerged, the heavier the plating on the piece will be. You may remove the piece from the solution to check the progress and then re-submerge it for a thicker coating. The tin zinc electroplating process is complete when the piece is covered with a uniform dull gray film. Then polish to a beautiful shine.

10049Z - Eastwood Tin Zinc Electroplating System is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 9.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good just bought this kit to do a bunch of small nut, bolts etc for my 61 Impala restoration. it works pretty good. i had brand new black oxide bolts that i cleaned real good and it did a fine job. i also ran them lightly on the wire wheel and it shined them up pretty good also. i will now coat them with diamond clear for bare metal spray.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as shiny as in the picture The product does what is says, so it does work. However, even after several passes of dipping and polishing (each time) I did not get the chrome like finish as in the picture. Overall I settled for a clean metal finish with rust protection. But don't expect a chrome like finish on your bolts as the picture shows.
