    Eastwood Rust Encapsulator has been tested by an independent lab to be the most effective rust preventive product yet. Tested against well-known brands, the Eastwood Rust Encapsulator has proven to be superior in sunlight resistance, preventing rust creep, and overall durability. One 15 oz (net weight) aerosol can covers about 10 sq/feet. Contains no isocyanates. Heat resistant up to 400°F.

  • It's easy to use. Just remove any loose rust and wax, oil or grease. Then brush Rust Encapsulator on (if you prefer, thin up to 20% with lacquer thinner and spray)

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rust Encapsulator & Silver Agent I have applied a lot of the black matte encapsulator finish on an old truck frame without much if any surface prep & some white rust encapsulator on old shocks. I would say the paint is great & the applicator (me) needs replacement. Even at that I think it stopped the rust and now six months later I see no bleed through & I have been watching it on the white shocks. These shocks were ugly rusty and pitted & now they are bright white and look great at 10'. Sure makes for an easy improvement on rusted truck frames. I used Eastwood's wheel paint with more prep and it looks great. We'll see in time and with winter salt coming. Sorry pics bit blurry

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says Used this on the bottom of my 1962 Cadillac Coupe Deville. Was leary of some of the reviews. Basically don't spray it on bare metal, don't use it in the cold, and be prepared for some of the cans to clog. Other than that, we pressure washed the bottom of the car and got everything clean. Then we sprayed with two coats of Rust Encapsulator and then two coats of Chassis Black from Eastwood. Some reviews said that if you didn't top coat it then the rust would come through in about a year so that's why we went with the Chassis Black top coat. Looks great. Went on great. A couple cans clogged up but I was expecting that. Sometimes just switching the nozzle with another fixed it.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is awesome I bought this to touch up my engine compartment on my 72 Mustang convertible. I brushed off the rusty areas with a wire brush, scuffed up everything, wiped it all down with acetone and applied. I used two or three wet coates to get great coverage and I'm sure there won't be any rust coming back any time soon. Eastwood products really perform to their claims. I was planning on spraying a semi-gloss black over this to match the stock gloss levels, because the matt really isn't concours for a Ford, but it looks so good that I decided to paint the rest of the engine compartment with this product. It looks that good!

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not great, just like black spray paint Wire wheeled all of the parts to be painted, used 240 grit on them, cleaned with brake cleaner, then prepped with pro grade grease and wax remover. Shook can for nearly 5 min with the mixing ball loose. Sprayed on 2 generous coats, and even after setting for 2 days in above 70 degree temps...I can pretty much scratch this off with my fingernail. How it this supposed to be used as a top coat as advertised? This is nothing but super over priced black spray paint...too bad...I really though this stuff would be good.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good coverage Used this on the brake drums on a 72 Skylark. Minimal prep time with a wire brush and some solvent, got good coverage with two coats. Dressing up the brake drums because we replaced the stock steel wheels with some modern aluminum rally-style wheels, and the rusty brake drums didn't look too good behind the new wheels. Now the drums have a clean flat black appearance behind the wheels and kind of "disappear." This car stays in the garage, and doesn't go out when it's raining, so I don't know how this paint would hold up under tougher conditions. We shall see if it holds up in this application or if the rust comes back.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product for intended purpose. I've purchase this product for a couple different projects a couple years back and 2000 Jeep for my son this year. I live in SC and its humid.. So much so that you can see the moisture build on the area that was sprayed with another product "NOT Eastwood brand" rust converter and prep (jeep is in the garage and out of the elements) 1 month from day of application. The Eastwood Encapsulator has shown no signs of rust or moisture build up as this sets in the garage for over a month. For anyone using the Eastwood Encapsulator I would stress that you follow up with Eastwood's Extreme Chassis black, it builds a tough barrier on those spots that you treated that get exposed to road debris. I've heard of other people using this product without top coating it and their results were unfavorable I believe due to location of area treated and application method. Prep, clean, apply and top coat. You will be glad you did!
