This high-tech formula halts residual rust in its tracks and converts it into a black protective polymeric coating that eliminates the need for sanding. The converted protective coating is a suitable primer, and is compatible with most top coats. Additionally, the protective coating will seal the surface against moisture to prevent future rust growth. Simply remove loose rust with a wire brush, then apply Eastwood's Rust Converter. Allow to dry, then top coat it with a quality coating, such as Eastwood's Chassis Black. Single component; no more mixing.

Eastwood Rust Converter will convert areas only where rust is present. If there is no rust present, there will be nothing for the product to react with and adhere to. You will only see it convert rust in the areas where rust is present

    Manufacturer's Part Number:

The Eastwood Rust Converter transforms rust into a protective coating that seals and protects the surface. It quickly prepares the surfaces for topcoating and will seal the surface against moisture to prevent future rust growth. The Eastwood Rust Converter penetrates faster than other brands and is compatible with most top coats.

51483Z - Eastwood Rust Converter is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not "Convert" Rust It actually just covers the rust in a hard, clear coating that can be painted over. Unless my product has gone bad. I can still see the rust underneath the coating. I see pictures and videos of brown rust changing its chemical composition and turning black - just can't confirm that with my use cases. It does seem to form a protective cover though, and may very well prevent moisture from reaching the metal, which would be beneficial. I just can't confirm that yet. I have also not had any issue with the product remaining sticky when applied to painted surfaces or bare metal - seems to harden without an issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product Does not turn Black and do not - I repeat - do not spray on bare metal at all. Now I have to Sand blast again or scrub with acetone and scotch-brite pads. lost 4 days of time due to this product - poor instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth the money I even sand blasted the steel plates above my garage doors and put two coats like it said to do and then waited 48 hrs between coats and sprayed the converter on and the next day I painted the steel plates and rust started coming through the latex paint in less than a week, I was really disappointed with the product.I don't believe the latex paint caused the rust but who knows?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great if you brush it on Buy the quart bottle, clean the surface of loose rust, prep with Acetone and brush it on with a foam sponge brush - works excellent. Dont buy the aerosol - very poor results with the aerosol on the same parts.
