750-1715 - FAST XR-i Points to Electronic Ignition is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chevy Install Tip I purchased this a while back. First day I installed it, it worked like a champ in my SBC 400. Then weeks later the car had no start issue due to spark. Trouble shot the module like the instructions said and finally gave up and pulled it because everything pointed to a fried XR-I. I know the instructions say you don't need to use the grounding wire provided, but in my case I needed it. I pulled the distributor and tested the ground wire on the points plate. It was fine and working no matter how much I messed with that wire looking for a break in it. I went back to points and chased a mis and no start issue. I think it's carb related. Anyways. I finally decided to try what I thought was a burnt up XR-I unit again. This time with an additional ground wire. With the dedicated ground to the XR-I module it fired off and started running the same as the first time I used it. That little digital thing needs a solid ground, which ideally the distributor housing has, but apparently it doesn't. I cleaned up and tested body to engine ground, engine to frame, and frame to body grounds. Nothing fixed it until I ran a ground wire directly off the XR-I module.
