America's favorite high-performance cast iron small block cylinder heads offer big power and bigger value. Chevrolet Vortec Cylinder Heads' fast burn combustion chamber and high-velocity ports combine to produce big horsepower. Vortec Heads can be mildly ported for additional performance and milled up to .040'' for increased compression ratio. The Vortec Heads come with various intake and exhaust valve sizes to complement the high-velocity port design and your performance needs. Vortec Heads outflow Bow Tie Heads right out of the box and are a 20 to 40 horsepower bolt-on increase over earlier cast iron small block heads. Vortec Heads require a Vortec-style intake manifold due to an improved manifold mounting flange and gasket design and raised intake ports. Modifying the heads to accept early intake manifolds is not recommended. Vortec Cylinder Heads fit all 1955-Present small blocks except LT1/LT4 reverse coolant flow engines and current LS1-style engines.

12558060 - Chevrolet Performance Small Block Chevy Cast Iron Vortec Cylinder Heads is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortec Cylinder Head Pleased with the part. Found Jegs to be more expensive on the needed accessory parts: head gasket, new intake, intake gasket, and bolt kits. Bought those from Summit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as described! Product was delivered faster than promised and was great quality!! Don't bother shopping at any other parts suppliers, Jegs has it all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great heads for the money; super-fast shipping Even though their price has risen substantially, these GM Vortec heads are still a great value compared to properly rebuilt GM heads or new aftermarket heads. And I'm not sure any of the Vortec copies flow as well at low lifts (up to .500") as the real GM versions. That said, my heads' valve travel was only approx .480" before the retainers hit the guide seals. I was able to increase that to approx .510" by fully seating the seals using an old seal and 1/2" socket. That's more than enough (including safety margin) for my cam's .451" valve lift.

Just purchased the vortec heads kit #12558060k2. I am now going to purchase the lunati cam#638-10120302 for sbc 350 and my question is upon ordering can i get springs and pushrods for the 507 lift??

    Asked by: Regalninja
Here is a valve spring option - http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/514120/10002/-1 You will need to measure your pushrod length for the standard length that you have.

I know the stock Chevy vortec heads were prone to cracking in certain areas. Do these heads have a heavier casting, or are they the same as stock?

    Asked by: Big Dog76
These are a later model design with some improvements to prevent cracking.

Will these heads work on 80-85 305 block

    Asked by: Garry1170
Yes. Keep in mind the 305 heads have a 58cc combustion chamber so compared to those your compression ratio will drop somewhat.

Hello, will these fit the 305 with bore of 3,736? Have seen build with them on hotrod magasine. But was told by engine builder that inlet will hit cylinder? I know that chambers are 64 vs 58cc but have HO pistons so should still be about 9:1.

    Asked by: Per H
There should be no issues with these heads. However, we do recommend checking clearances before final torque.

What would be a good 4x4 cam for these heads?

    Asked by: Andrews94K1500
Our number 249-12-235-2 would be a good choice for these heads.

Are these the more restrictive Mexico castings? Is it possible to get flow numbers?

    Asked by: commrad
No, these flow better than manu of the Bow Tie castings used in earlier designs. Chevy has not released flow numbers for this head.

I have a 1994 350 with an upgraded roller LT1 cam, stock tbi heads, and stock tbi intake. If I order the kit with the vortec intake/heads plus the adapter plate for tbi mounting, will the heads work with that cam on this motor?

    Asked by: bddc33
Not if it is a reverse coolant flow engine
