2242 - Hooker Headers Super Competition Headers Chevy/GM Car is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unreal power, easy installation Trying to find a set of headers for a 600 HP small block with AC for a G body was an absolute nightmare for years...they simply did not exist. No, I am not running an A/C compressor, but I also am not interested in ripping out the A/C evaporator & heater core box as I haven't located a complete suitable non-A/C set up for my car to date and though my car will never see cold weather again, it can not pass a PA inspection without a heater core/defroster. My engine is built to have the majority of power from 3500 through 7500, though it still pulls incredibly hard through 8200 and though these headers are NOT the reason this engine pulls well past 8000 RPM, I have no doubt that without these headers in this chassis I would fall far short of that number without them. My last engine started to peter out @ 6800 RPM through the headers I was running at that time yet in another car with larger primary tube headers the same engine with no changes screams well past 7500 RPMs. The performance of these headers is absolutely excellent, and far in excess of every other set & brand of headers I've run in the past 25+ years on this and a few other G bodied cars I've owned, built and raced. These headers dump into 3" stainless duals with dump pipes. I've never had to re-tighten these headers (though I am using high end (allen keyed heads) bolts and copper gaskets which is incredibly unusual as I've never had headers that didn't need to be tightened virtually every other time they got hot & cooled off. The only down side to using these headers is that you lose quite a bit of slow speed turning radius due to one tube on each side going outside of the frame into the wheel wells. You need to be careful turning the steering wheel while doing parking maneuvers as it is easy to bury your tire(s) into these tubes. I've never done any damage, though I have "seen the smoke" when the cold rubber "found" the real hot tube. This is NOT an issue when driving as you're never going to have the wheel turned that much at any kind of speed, it is just something to take note of and be aware of. I run 15" wheels and even with 16" wheels the tire would still be the part of the rotating mass of the wheel & tire "assembly" that could/will contact the header tube when/if the steering wheel is turned far enough at slow speed, but with a 17" or larger diameter wheel it is possible that the wheel might be the part that may make contact with the tube, which definitely could become an issue as metal on metal could easily damage the header tube.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hooker headers for G body Passenger side fit but two bolt holes didn't lineup right and driver side tube that goes out around the frame didn't lineup right tube was over bent so going to make due cause already damaged from me trying to get it to fit
