2455-2 - Hooker Headers Competition Headers Chevy/GM Car is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved $2,000 over custom headers for my 572" GTO Custom headers were soooo expensive. I gave these a shot, and even with the tall deck block and 5/8ths raised exhaust ports I only had to make a small dent on driver's side (#3 cyl) for the steering shaft. Pass side slipped right in. Both sides go in and out from the top. I only have to take out the Z-bar (clutch linkage), very simple. I did, however, make a little more room in the frame rails with some slight narrowing, working on the inside of the frame rails- ten bucks worth of 1/8th plate and a couple hours trimming and welding. Custom headers were $2,600 for the tall deck in an A-body, and not even stainless. Pictures do not show 572" mill in '64 GTO. They are of an unrestored 1966 Elco stuffed with a low-deck 454 with 60K miles on the headers. Every day street/strip driver. No rust on stainless with no maintenance. Bought another set of same headers for the bigger 572. The 2" primaries do not seem to hurt the top end of the 572 in the GTO. That car is a rotisserie-built street/strip car. The off-the-shelf Hooks might give up a few ponies, but cost $$ savings and low 10s make me not care.
