    Heavy-Duty Hitachi-Style Mini Starter

    Designed for 153 and 168-tooth flywheels, this long-body, heavy-duty 1.4kW starter has a 3.7:1 gear ratio, full ball bearings, and the power to crank over those monster 16:1 compression engines. It will clear all oversized kickout oil pans, as well as small and big block Chevy with in-line bolt patterns. The starter weighs only 12 pounds and has an aluminum adapter with  adjustable mounting positions. Bolts, shims, and mounting hardware included.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from SBC Mini Starter Bought this because I was having troubles with OEM not engaging properly. Replaced OEM twice and still issue. This starter allowed for me to space it back from the flywheel farther than the other. Works awesome every time now. Needed the spacer to do this which Jegs sent me and now all is good.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good design, fixed starter over heating issues I am running long tube headers on my small block Chevy, kept over heating the gm starter. Called to place order, asked if this starter came with bolts, was told no, so I had to order new bolt set. (Only out a few bucks) got the starter, it indeed came with bolts in the kit, and with the ones I ordered. No big deal, again, only out a couple dollars. But then I realized, this starter is a two wire starter and my gm starter is three wire. So I broke out the instructions to only find out, the page the describes which wire to eliminate, was missing! So after calling and talking to a tech and figuring out which wire I had to get rid of, I got to work. Now on my chevelle, had to remove header to get enough room to work. So get everything off, throw the starter up and shim the mounting block to the motor, no biggie. Looked fine. Nope. Got everything back together and went to start only to find the pinion on the starter was hitting hitting the fly wheel when it would crank the motor over. So I find out, need to shim the pinion gear away from mounting block to give clearance to starter. Guess what? Starter didn't come with the pinion shim! Ha. So after calling customer service, keeping my cool and explaining the situation, they sent me a shim kit for free. Great, appreciate that considering I didn't need the bolt kit. So after 3 days of doing what should of been an hour job, I finally get everything I need to finish the job. Go to pull the nut off the positive cable stud(which is copper) only to have the threads come with it! Long story short, it's back together, got the positive cable back on as best I could, and it fixed the over heating issues with the starter. I would absolutely give this product 5 stars if it was shipped properly with the right hardware and instructions,and if I wasn't mislead on what was included. But I can say they made it right on the bolts by throwing in the shim kit but now I have the issue of the copper stud being stripped.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice heavy built starter when I received it. However would not fit.....headers in way. Was a little too long and could not clock it enough ....only 3 settings. So I ordered another starter with more clockable settings. Hope that works. I have Hooker headers on a 383 stroker

    I'M LOOKING AT YOUR JEGS STARTER #10009 ,WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF THAT STARTER.ALSO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE OVERVIEW SECTION ON YOUR SIGHT IT SAYS THAT IT HAS 6 CLOCKING POSITIONS IN THE PICTURE IT HAS ONLY THREE?

    This starter is 7.25” inches from the mounting flange to the furthest point on the end of the motor. Also it has 3 mounting positions.
