    K&N 57 (FIPK) and 63 (AirCharger) Series Air Intake Kits represent a dramatic improvement over the K&N OE Replacement Filter alone. They use only non-metallic rotationally molded tubes that can reduce intake air temperature and sound compared to metal tubes. Restriction can exist between an air filter and engine, which undermines the benefits of a K&N Air Filter. The weakest link in the airflow "chain" robs a vehicle of horsepower; often that weak point is the factory air path to the engine. K&N Air Intake Kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamic tube drives a massive amount of air into an engine to produce more power.

    K&N High-Flow Cold Air Intakes are state-of-the-art. They begin with the largest conical air filter that can fit into the engine compartment while still using factory holes/mounts. This extra filter size provides even more airflow at lower restriction than a K&N OE Replacement Filter because the standard filter is limited to the size of the factory air box. The oversized air filter also captures and holds more dirt, extending the service life before cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower. The filter is then attached to a high-density polyethylene tube. The molding process allows tubes to be precisely formed in order to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine. This is why some tubes have unique shapes; they're engineered specifically for each application. Finally, the tube connects to the engine with adapters made from high-strength silicon & reinforced nylon to ensure long life.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent addition 97 tahoe Easy to install . Didn't really get a seat of the pants improvement over the stock air box with a k&n filter. The engine is loud in the truck now on acceleration . I have upgraded my vortec to a 383 which I built myself. Not a chevy crate. Might help more when I upgrade the exhaust. Personally I think adding the air filter is gonna get you close to the same thing. They don't show a horsepower test with just installing the k&n air element in the stock air box .which is way quieter .
