Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple is good Gently pressed in another brand's pilot bushing on my 400SBC as I was swapping out the automatic for a 4-speed. When the moment of truth arrived I could not get the transmission to seat--could not get it to move that final inch or so. Went on Hot Rodders.com, and several posters mentioned that all it takes to hang up the transmission is a pilot bushing that is just a few thousandths of an inch too tight or out of round. Took everything apart, removed the bushing and tried to slip it over the snout of the transmission. Sure enough, it would not go. Bought the Lakewood piece, tapped it in, transmission seated like a hot knife through butter. Worth it to pay a couple bucks more for a brand-name piece!
