14-326 - McLeod Direct Fit Hydraulic Conversion Assemblies is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from All-in-one solution! No fabrication! Installed this kit in about an hour on my 1980 Mercury Capri with pedal assembly from a 1984 Mustang. Only had to make a small 1/2" nylon spacer to mount the reservoir on the firewall to clear the pinchweld, the reservoir can be rotated on the bracket to give further options for clearance but that was my solution. There's no exact instruction procedure for bleeding the units (instructions just say to bleed the system), I filled the reservoir and used a vacuum bleeder on the bottom then top cylinder and that seemed to do it. I went with the external slave cylinder because I feel it's easier to maintenance and install (no pulling the transmission). After about a week of daily driving I've played with the firewall adjuster a few times to get the feel right on the pedal and the slave cylinder rod needs a backing nut (not supplied) as it will eventually back off the clutch fork. I used a high temp thread lock on the slave cylinder rod but do not want to use it on the fork rod ball adapter as a locking nut would be a better solution. All in all, it was very easy to install and does need a little experimentation and tweaking to get just right on break in. I have a heavy duty clutch in my Capri with a 5.0 V8 and T5 transmission, time will tell if this conversion will stand up to it (no racing or stomping the clutch). Construction of the cylinders, hoses and cable are pretty beefy and did ease use of the clutch by about 25% over stock cable.

Do I have to use the quadrant included in the kit? I have a Steeda quadrant that reduces pedal pressure and would like to experiment with it.

    Asked by: Longbow64
The McLeod 673-14-326 conversion kit does require the use of their quadrant.
