SB-Chevy Oil Pumps

This anti-cavitation model features machined grooves in the housing and cover to reduce cavitation effects in high-RPM applications (housing & cover are also coated with manganese phosphate for rust prevention and longevity). The cover is doweled to the pump housing to ensure shaft bore alignment. The pump relief valve has a screw-in plug instead of a pin. The driveshaft has a male hex drive, and the corresponding female hex intermediate shaft is provided. The pickup screen hole is machined to use original press-fit screens.

A stock pressure spring is included to lower bypass pressure if needed. With this pump design, oil pressure is slightly reduced at idle.

For 7" deep oil pan, use oil pump pickup tube #689-12557

For 7.5" deep oil pan, use oil pump pickup tube #689-12558

For 8" deep oil pan, use oil pump pickup tube #689-12559

This line of Melling Oil Pumps has a larger inlet hole and hardened steel gears. The gears are about 25% longer to supply additional oil flow for wider bearing clearances. The driveshaft and idler shaft have been extended into the cover to provide extra support and eliminate any shaft deflection. The pressure relief spring plug is threaded for easy replacement.
