Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Adapting a gen.1 smallblock to a spin-on oil filter has become a real pain. Entirely, because there isn't enough information to educate the customer about the differences among the early blocks. First of all, the picture attached here is NOT the repair kit. That consists of two gaskets and is self evident. This picture is of the "bypass valve assembly. In a "later" gen-one block, that is all that is necessary. In the earlier blocks, another "adapter" piece is necessary. Some of those "adapter pieces" and filters need a "bypass valve" assembly and some don't. NONE of the descriptions/details give you that information leaving you buying parts that are incomplete or not needed wasting your time and shipping costs. So, better description/application and some instruction re. how it's supposed to work from the manufacturer would greatly help with the purchase and proper installation.
