The Nitto NT555R Exreme Drag Radial tires are designed for competitive drag racing while being D.O.T. compliant for the trip to the track and back home. This tire outperforms all drag racing radial tires while providing impressive control and handling yet still delivering up to 15,000 miles of tread life for normal street driving. These tires are constructed with a specially formulated soft racing compound to provide maximum traction.

    Features
  • Competition Performance - The overall construction has been modified to improve launch performance. The NT555R was designed to achieve a balance between maximum dry performance and occasional street use.

  • High-Speed Stability - Semi-radial construction combined with a unique reinforced package helps provide stability at high track speeds.

  • Street & Strip Consistency - The tread compound is formulated to achieve a balance between tread wear and drag strip performance, allowing for the weekend racer to drive to the track, compete, and drive back home on the same set of rear tires.

  • A Perfect Pair - The NT555R drag radial works in unison with the NT555 Extreme Street Performance Radials, so you can put the drag radials on the rear axle and the NT555s on the front axle. When developing both product lines, Nitto matched the tread pattern and sizing to fit modern performance vehicles.

  • 40156 - Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag Radial is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nitto NT555R vs Mickey Thompson ET Streets Previously had MT ET Streets in a 1968 Camaro with a 468ci., 525 HP motor. Aggressive looking and super sticky when heated up. Problem was on the street you don't stop to do a burnout to bring the tires to temp. Also the smooth tread surface is slippery on course asphalt when cold and when hot the rough texture of the road tears off chunks of rubber when you do a burnout. They wear quickly. The Nitto's with their aggressive tread grab better on the street and the harder tire doesn't throw chunks. They also handle better on corners without sliding. My bet, at a track with a sticky, smooth rubber coated surface the MT's are the way to go. On the street the Nitto's are the better choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Bracket Drag Radial My first Drag radial purchase, required by the class I race. I installed these on a 78 Ford Ranchero the car weighs in at a light weight of 4200# initial heat cycle that seems longer than other brands to accomplish. But after that the tire only needs a short Heat Cycle ( Just get them to start to haze up ) and your good to go. the track I race at does not do a lot of prep work for bracket races. I was impressed how well the tires hooked up. I believe with a well prepared track I will reduce my 60 ft times even more.. if your class requires a drag radial and DOT look seriously at this tire, if you ever get rained out you can still safely drive home. if you do drive to and from the track with these you can expect a very short tire life. the price is worth the look alone
