    4150 Model with 4500 Base

    This carburetor is a standard 4150, but the throttle body bolt pattern is drilled for a 4500 flange. Spacer adapter #793-300-4145-1AL is included with this carburetor.

    Special Instructions
    Designed to fit 4500 intake manifolds, it is important to use the transition spacer provided with this carb. The spacer tapers from the wider bore of a 4500 intake to the small bore centerline of a conventional 4-bbl, and it solves potential problems related to mounting one of these carburetors directly to a 4500 flange.

    The photo below shows a 4500 flange gasket positioned on the throttle body as it would be if the carburetor was mounted directly to the intake without the spacer/adapter. A couple of problems are evident:

  • All 6 throttle body mounting screws are exposed to the intake manifold opening. Although these screws seldom loosen/fall out during normal operation, it is not worth the risk to leave them exposed.
  • Though not all mounting flanges are as wide as the flange gasket, most are fairly close to the gasket width so possible interference issues emerge:
    The throttle stop arm on the throttle shaft can and often does hit the intake manifold.
    A 50cc pump housing will hit the intake manifold due to its proximity to the intake flange.

    These potential mishaps are all avoided by using the transition spacer/adapter. If you choose not to use it, it is your responsibility to take corrective steps to prevent these problems which could damage an engine.

    Main Body

    Metering Blocks

  • Emulsion bleeds are threaded and changeable
  • Stainless steel idle mixture screw with a superior nylon seal that won't deteriorate
  • Machined internal passages ensure consistent performance and eliminate the chance of porosity

    Throttle Body
  • CNC-machined die-cast aluminum body designed for competition use
  • Strengthening ribs reinforce typically weak areas to prevent potential warping or breakage
  • Thick cross-sectional area guarantees excellent sealing between throttle bodies, lengthening the venturi to help extend the RPM operating range
  • Teflon-coated throttle shafts with Teflon ribbon bearings provide smooth, precise throttle operation and keep dirt from migrating into throttle body and out of throttle shafts
  • Mechanical secondary carbs have the Quick Link Secondary Opening System that enables rate adjustment simply by changing links (available opening rates: 40%, 60%, 1:1)

    Fuel Bowls
