What Are ARP Exhaust Header Bolts Common Pros and Cons?

ARP exhaust header bolts are designed with strength in mind, which is stronger than grade 8, to prevent breakage. They are also available in stainless steel or black oxide chromoly material to provide corrosion and extreme heat resistance commonly found with header applications. Although these bolts can be more expensive than other options availble, the long service life and peace of mind they deliver outweighs the cost.

Which ARP Exhaust Header Bolts Are Best?

When choosing the correct part number from the selection of ARP exhaust header bolts, the first step is to confirm the year, make, model, and engine of your vehicle. Then match your application to the header bolt options. From the remaining options, confirm the length needed that will, at a minimum, reach a depth of the cylinder head equal or greater than the diameter of the bolt. For example, a 3/8" diameter bolt needs to be threaded into the cylinder head at least 3/8". This can be confirmed by subtracting the thickness of the header flange, any washer (if used), and header gasket from the underhead length of the bolt. Keep in mind that too long of header bolt can cause it to bottom out in the cylinder head, preventing proper tightening from occurring. If replacing stubborn bolts, the best way to remove rusty rounded exhaust header bolts is first using a liquid or spray penetrant that will get into the threads. Next, use an extractor socket / easy-out/drill bit set to grip the bolt and remove it. A small torch can be used to heat the area the bolt is going through to help it expand and make the bolt easier to be removed.

How Much Do ARP Exhaust Header Bolts Cost?

ARP Exhaust Header Bolts are available in the $15 to $120+ price range, depending on the engine and header application.
