Double hump crossmembers for G-Body vehicles (such as 1978-1988 Chevrolet Malibu, El Camino, Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, and others) allow dual exhaust to fit more easily and without reduced ground clearance when compared to factory crossmembers. This provides a much better fit. They also are made with a stronger design to resist twisting from engine torque. There are not any known negative reasons to purchasing a double-hump crossmember.
