VHT SPRAY PRIMERS are excellent foundations for any enamel, acrylic or synthetic lacquer finish paint products. They provide a tough, air-dry base coat with excellent adhesion to intermediate and top coatings. These primers are specially formulated to fill scratches or pin holes caused by sanding or body fillers, prepare the surface for finish painting as well as form a strong corrosion barrier over all bare metallic surfaces.
VHT SPRAY PRIMERS air dry quickly and can be sanded for multi-layer build-ups, the method most frequently used by professional builders and restores for obtaining optimum smoothness on flat surfaces and contoured structures.
VHT SPRAY PRIMERS are a multi-purpose product and can be used on metal, fiberglass, masonry, wood and most plastic surfaces. They are ideal for home, automotive, marine, aviation, farm and industrial uses. Application: Test finish coat for compatibility of primer before starting. Do not use with VHT lacquers.
Mask off all areas not to be painted with the paper extending at least 18 inches from area to be painted. When masking off the area to be sprayed, apply tape far enough away from the area to allow room to feather the spray. Placing the masking tape too close will cause unwanted ridges in the finish coat. Do not paint on windy days or in dusty surroundings.
Spot prime all areas with exposed metal, scratches and pin holes with two or three very light coats of primer. Primer will dry in 30 to 45 minutes for sanding purposes, lightly sand with 400 to 600 grit wet and dry sand paper making sure to feather all edges. Rinse thoroughly and wipe with a tac cloth. If scratches are still visible, repeat process.
Spray VHT primers using long even strokes lengthening each stroke on the spray pattern. This will feather the edges as you spray reducing the need for heavy sanding. For best results apply finish coat one to two hours after final sanding is completed.
