    For traction output, strength and durability, the Auburn Gear MAX Lock Locker delivers exceptional performance when you need it most. MAX Lock Locker is an excellent choice for performance enthusiasts, who want to enhance their traction capabilities at the track, strip and on or off-road.

    The MAX Lock Locker operation is fully automatic. The unit is designed to send engine torque to the wheels with the most traction. While traveling straight it will lock the axles together. When the wheels need to differentiate in a turn, the locker will allow the outside wheel to rotate faster to complete the turn. The internal gears will overrun each other to allow this differentiation automatically and seamlessly. When operating off-road, the MAX Lock Locker will always send the engine power to the wheels that need it most.

    Locking differentials, in effect, lock the two drive wheels together like "spools" that solidly connect the axles together. When powering straight ahead, engine power is equally delivered to both drive wheels. However, unlike spools that will not differentiate when turning and are therefore not street compatible, lockers allow full wheel differentiation when cornering. Unlike the poor traction characteristics of open or limited-slip/posi differentials, when one wheel loses traction, locking differentials deliver engine power not to the slipping wheel, but to the wheel with the highest amount of traction.
