Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product Well made, works great, and cool thing is you can see it working. I wish i had used it for many previous projects when putting an new raditior in a classic car with an old engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coolant Flow Filter/ Indicator This device serves more than a filter, it also lets you know when your thermostat opens by showing flow. The coolant flow also indicates your water pump is working properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working Great! You'll need at least 5" of straight hose length to fit from end to end. So far so good. Looks great and like seeing the flow when thermostat opens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the Ticket Protects your radiator from clogging. High flow water pump and high rpm seemed to shake some crud loose in my car. Cleaning this filter much easier than removing and reverse flushing radiator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what we hoped for This product is doing the job just as hoped for, catching the little bit of rust flakes left over within the engine after flushing, to protect the expensive radiator that was just installed. With the black finish, it looks nice in between the cut sections of the hose. I would buy it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good concept, could use some better execution I have an old, poorly maintained (by PO, not me) cooling system into which I've just installed a new radiator. Not wanting to contaminate the new radiator with schmoo coming out of the engine, I looked for an inline cooling filter/screen, and this fit the bill perfectly. Installs very easily in your upper radiator hose, and you can see what's going on with your coolant. But there are a couple of things that need improvement: first, the aluminum is NOT anodized, as I assumed it would be. It's paint (I have the black variant), and after just a couple of hot/cold cycles of the engine the paint started peeling off. It's more than cosmetic, because the paint is on the inside of the unit as well as on the hose barbs. I will probably blast the paint off the aluminum and leave it bare. Function is first and foremost for me - aesthetics are secondary. The other thing to know about this product is that they ought to have been a bit more generous with the hose barbs - make sure you've got those hose clamps on *tight*, or you could be on the side of the road, or even in the emergency room. On mine, the upper hose did not break free, but it came close. Fortunately I spotted it in time. I had the clamps on just as tight as the ones on the radiator and thermostat housing, but on this product they need to be tighter still to make sure they don't slip off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK product I purchased a new radiator so I thought it would be best to add some radiator flush and install the filter before I install the new radiator. The unit did not catch much, but maybe that just means the block and existing radiator did not have any issues. I will re-install the unit when I re-install the new radiator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Added more debris than it filtered The paint inside started peeling in less than a month thus adding debris to my coolant stream. I also had an issue with leaking.

I live in a primarily cold climate. Is the see through glass cylinder designed for year round use as a permanent install ? Or would there be a fear of breakage or cracking with cold winter temps ?

    Asked by: Jaxkie27
This is made for year round use. The use of antifreeze would prevent this from cracking.
