Rated 5 out of 5 by from crate 290hp I have installed 2 of these in the last month one in customers car and one in my own truck. Both have worked out extremely nice, however engine does not feel as strong as I though it would I am still tuning to get more out of it but does not feel like 100 extra hp over my stock worn 305

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New engines, not rebuilt. Bought first one to put in my boys chevelle, ended up putting in Grandson's pickup. Bought another and put in Boy's chevelle, they love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement engine This engine is a great replacement. It has sufficient power all through the rpm range for a street motor. I have received several compliments on the exhaust note the motor produces through flowmaster mufflers

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost a drop-in Installing in an older Corvette. It came with bronze pilot bearing installed and oil dip stick plugs for left and right side in a bag in the valley. Keeping the old stock unvented Vette valve covers was a problem. This block does not have the rear valley vent casting. It was also necessary to drill and tap the 1/4 - 20 hole for the spark plug heat shield in the right rear of the block the other three were correctly drilled and tapped. Shipping was fast only four days.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rear Main Leak Rear main seal leaked on initial startup after placing in custom truck. Wouldn’t know if GM warranty is any good because they NEVER CALLED ME BACK! Nothing but wasted time & money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stuck rings I researched the heck out of this engine and thought okay this will get me going until my short block gets out of the machine shop. Bad idea. Every seal has failed on me. This engine has egr heads on a non emissions motor. #6 cylinder has stuck rings. Every plug leaked. Oil pan omg. The motor has provisions for left or right dipstick try and find a replacement pan under $350. Oil pan and timing cover will not accept a 1 piece pan gasket. My old 305 should have left it in. Leaked less oil and was reliable. Oh i have no warranty because the engine wasnt installed by a gm certified mechanic.

I've been thinking about installing the Holley Sniper EFI system on this engine. Been told that the cam has to be matched to the sniper system. The camshaft has to have a 114 lobe separation or the engine will not run right. Will it work?

    Asked by: Mr Mike S
That cam should work with the Sniper system. You need an engine that makes at least 8 inches of vacuum. most 114 degree cams will do that.

What are the 4 brackets found on the top of the valve covers used for? Can they be removed or do they serve a purpose?

    Asked by: SLM1
These are used for some of the hose and spark plug wire routing. You could cut these off.
