CF-101-WT - Heidts Sub Frame Connectors is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not robust Hello I have put approximately 20k miles of daily street driving (no track time) on my Pro G sub frame. Its in a 1968 nova with a vortec 350 and a 4l60e transmission and below has been my experience: Sub frame did not fit car correctly needed an additional 3/4" spacer to fit toe board mounts-Heidts did not have any answers. Assembly instructions very vague and lack torque specifications. At 15k mustang 2 tie rod ends needed to be replaced. At 20k the inner hub seal went and slings grease directly onto the inner brake pad resulting in loss braking power-Wilwood did not really care about this design flaw and just gave me a list of parts to buy. Upon re-alignment the upper a-arm through bolt was bent-contacted Heidts engineering and they said I should use a stronger bolt from what they supplied. So I paid 4500$ for a unit that cannot hold up to daily driving. Aligning front end is very tough as you need to remove the upper control arm through bolt that results in the tire flopping outward while you guess how far to screw the control arm nubs in and out. Local alignment shop after 1 hour of back forth adjustments gave up and told me not to come back. Im a mechanical engineer who has been building nova's and Camaro's since 1995 and currently work with one of the big 3. In automotive industries we usually perform DFMEA (design failure modes and effects analysis) and this design would not be acceptable.
