Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality product with minor complaints So, there's more to these than you might think at first. Would have been good to know before buying. 1. THEY DO NOT COME WITH NORMAL BAFFLES. Look under most valve covers and you'll see a significant oil baffle at one end. This is so oil doesn't basically get pushed out your breather through pressure and/or rocker-arm oiling. These covers include a small plate that only screws into ONE end but it doesn't really give much depth which means you can't use it with a standard push-in breather, and the plate is no where near as good as the more traditional internal oil baffle. The myriad of aftermarket extra filters, screw-on baffles, other baffles, etc are either band-aids or require extra work like drilling holes in your valve covers or welding aluminum. 2. The existing hole in the one cover is *NOT* for a push-in breather. Do that and you'll just blow oil all over your new valve cover, your header and your firewall. It **requires** a twist-lock cap, which of course is NOT INCLUDED. So when you buy one - don't think it's going to just magically fit. Guess what? Not all twist-lock caps are the same, not even on the aftermarket for a Chevy small block. Why? Because those parts manufacturers just blast out a cap and market it. You have to make sure you're buying the right O.D. cap. It took me 2 Spectre-brand caps to get one that fit and that one isn't even made well enough to end up with the cap tabs in-parallel with the valve cover. 3. Lastly, the included bolts to hold the valve cover down are essentially only good if you're using a super-thin gasket. These days, with cork having heat-cycling shrinkage issues, the use of rubber or steel-inserted gaskets is all the rage. Good luck getting getting your screws in with those. Are you using a Wire-Loom bracket? Forget about it, your screws won't even get 1 thread in. Some will say Call Holley and get longer bolts! I did, they said they don't have anything longer. They are cool looking though.

I have an engine swapped car, under hood space is at a premium. Want to make certain that these valve covers will fit under my brake master cylinder. What is the height of these, gasket surface to the top, outside surface?

    Asked by: Jimbz24
These valve covers will be approximately 4 1/2" tall.
