Black -10 AN, AN to NPT Straight Adapter Fittings

Can you confirm that this is 1/2-14 npt? I bought this fitting and it is not fitting in my 1/2-14npt tapped hole. It gets about 1/4 rotation then will not screw in any farther. Comparing to the tap it looks correct, but it definitely is not going in.
