50931 - JEGS Electric Water Pumps is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it needs to do Solid pump at a solid price that does what it's supposed to do. Straight forward install coupled with the Jegs relay kit. As the description states and others have said, you'll run into clearance issues with a 8" balancer. The pump and the coolant intake will clear the balancer, but the coolant intake is close enough to cause to hose to rub against the balancer (This is based on a Gen 1 SBC out of a k5) I remedied this by installing a 45* NPT elbow between the pump body and the coolant intake piece. Works like a charm in my application

Rated 4 out of 5 by from misleading will not work on a 400 sbc. a 400 harmonic balancer has a bigger diameter and hits the bell on the pump

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Only problem I ran into is that it dang near hits the harmonic balancer so might give to rig something up or go a different route

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not compatible with an 8-inch damper The fitting on the pump does not fit with an 8-inch damper, because there is no room for the lower radiator hose. I think this should be mentioned in the product description.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the dimensions that were published I bought this particular water pump because it specified a 6.7” depth. I have only a 1/4” clearance at that dimension to clear my electric fan. I unfortunately did not measure the unit before installing on the engine. I trusted it would be “as specified”…. The water pump is 7.5” deep… not 6.7” I spent a bunch of money this morning buying tools and material to modify the shroud for the fan to mount it. Go to put it in and there is no way it’ll fit. I can’t return the pump because I’ve installed it. The fan is a $400 fan that I now cannot use because the water pump hits it. Yes I should have verified, but now I’m out a lot of time and money because JEGS published incorrect dimensions. Not a happy camper right now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It would probably work great if it would fit. I purchased this item along with the ITC Billet Alternator Bracket For Electronic Water Pump, part number 335-551672E. This is to be mounted on a gen1 SBC 350 (bored .050 stroked to 383 with Eagle Rotation Assembly purchased from Jegs) originally from a 1970 Chevelle. Immediately there are issues with the fit-up of this product to the block. The machining of the mounting bolt holes to the block appears to be 'close' to where they need to be. The driver side fits correctly, however the passenger side holes are further apart than the holes on the block. This does not allow the bolts to line up correctly. Next, this pump uses 3/8 SHCS (socket head cap screws) on the pump body. When I tried to install the alternator bracket, the SHCS's on the alternator side of the pump make contact with the bolt spacers and do not allow the bracket to mount as they are intended. Once those were changed to hex head bolts and I was able to get everything in the right spot after machining the bolt holes slightly larger, the water pump inlet fitting sticks too far out of the water pump and makes contact with the harmonic balancer. Initially, I tried to screw the tube further into the pump to make up the clearance as it was close to fitting however the threads are not deep enough to generate enough clearance to the balancer. Thankfully, the pump is very versatile, and can be flipped upside down and the tube can be moved to either upper/lower driver side, or upper/lower passenger side. Or so I thought... When I backed the aluminum inlet pipe out of the pump, the threads stripped on the pipe destroying it. I am not sure the last time I worked under the hood and cussed an aftermarket part as much as this one. Maybe this one is a fluke, and I am willing to let Jegs try to send me another one to see if this one works, but this one was a NO GO. Jegs, please answer the frickin' phone, you are losing a life-long customer.
