- Here are a few tips to ensure a successful installation
- Follow the manufacture's instructions thoroughly
- Before installation, flush any old fluid from your system, including transmission lines, oil cooler, and torque converter to remove any contaminants that could harm your new transmission
- When installing your torque converter, follow the instructions carefully to ensure proper fitment into the transmission input shaft and also attaching to your engine. Specific tolerances are required so that you do not damage the front pump in the transmission or the converter.
- This unit only works in vehicles with an 11-pin (green) wiring harness connector.
- If you have any problem installing this transmission, before returning it please call the JEGS technical support line. Our experts may be able to assist you with the proper installation.
- JEGS 60325 4L80E transmission can be used in an older vehicle when converting to an electronically-controlled overdrive transmission. The conversion to older vehicles will require the use of a transmission controller, crankshaft spacer, special cross-member, driveshaft changes, and other modifications (all sold separately).

for starters, the gear selector shaft is so short and stubby, you wont be able to fit the gear sensor on it .(not a problem for me, because i'm using Fitech Goshift Trans controller) however, you're going to have to modify your shift linkage. after installing the transmission, it would not shift out of first gear, and the speed is not reading on the dash. to troubleshoot, i switched the vehicle speed sensor with the one from the old transmission. when i did this, i found that the new transmission is missing the vehicle speed sensor reluctor on the internal drum! this is only possible if this 2WD trans was rebuilt, using a 4WD drum, that has the speed sensor located on the transfer case, or if they simply simply tried to pass off a 4wd trans as 2wd by swapping tailhousings. needless to say, i'm near $2000 out of pocket, PLUS the labor to remove the old trans, cost of transmission fluid, and the labor
to install the new one. now, I have to remove this one, and have my work truck down until this is all resolved. customer support was responsive, and got me to a tech to verify the issue, and they sent a return authorization. i'm sure it was all just an honest mistake, but now i'm going to be out close to $200 in fluid after its all said and done, and i cant make any service calls until i've got a new transmission. just a bummer of an experience.
