- Here are a few tips to ensure a successful installation
- Follow the manufactures instructions thoroughly
- Before installation, flush any old fluid from your system, including transmission lines, oil cooler, and torque converter to remove any contaminants that could harm your new transmission
- When installing your torque converter, follow the instructions carefully to ensure proper fitment into the transmission input shaft and also attaching to your engine. Specific tolerances are required so that you do not damage the front pump in the transmission or the converter.
- If you have any problem installing this transmission, before returning it please call the JEGS technical support line. Our experts may be able to assist you with the proper installation.
- Precautions: NOTHING can ruin an AOD transmission as quickly as improper TV settings. If you are unclear or uncomfortable with the procedure, do not attempt this adjustment yourself. This information can be found in Ford service manuals for adjusting the TV pressure. Always follow general shop safety rules (never go under a car supported by a jack alone, always chock the wheels, etc.) when performing automotive work.

I bought this transmission a couple of weeks ago. Great customer service. My only con was the transmission needed a lever for a Mustang. The lever that came with it was for a truck.

Cant tell how it works etc its not installed yet ..but Trans looks good, very clean, unpainted, new neutral switch, new Pan and Bolts ... and for shure it was tested because its full of oil ...

Requires Modifications to Fit in Mustang
I ordered this transmission to replace the AOD in a late 80's Mustang as the fitment guide indicated this transmission would fit. The transmission that was shipped came with an 11 inch tail housing and 16 inch output shaft. This setup will not fit in a Mustang unless you obtain a slip yoke that works with undercut splines and you shorten the driveshaft. Also, the shifter arm is installed pointing up and has an offset. You must drop the pan to replace or adjust the shifter arm so that it will work with the Mustang shifter. The transmission hat shipped seems to be a setup for a Lincoln Mark VII, but definitely was not turnkey with a Mustang as the fitment guide indicates.

Lemon Transmission & Jegs not responding
Transmission pan gasket, output shaft gasket, & tail shaft seals leaked after installation per faulty manufacturing. Had to pay to have it taken back apart and resealed. Have contacted Jegs customer service through email with no reply. So frustrating.
