    Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2004 4 Runner Struts and Shocks Installed KYB GR-2 rear shocks and GR-2 front strut-assemblies on a 2004 4-Runner (original owner, vehicle has 122,000 miles). Shocks went in easily; had put some super lub-oil on fasteners and they came off with effort after 12 years of not being touched. The front struts required removal of front sway bar and control links. I had ordered replacement bushings for the sway bar as the old ones were cracking. While the old strut came out without removing other suspension parts, had to disconnect lower control arm to insert new strut assembly as it had somewhat larger diameter spring. The new strut was 10-15 labs heavier than the OEM strut with twice as many coils in the spring. It was an exact fit, with pressure being placed on lower control arm to install (I had a friend help press down on the lower control arm). I also had to widen the lower strut fastening point as the new one was somewhat wider. It was nice not having to deal with a spring compression tool and the quality of the assembly was definitely better than the OEM part. I now know I should have replaced the old ones sooner. The front is about an inch taller but looks good and I am pleased with the ride and handling.
