    Technical Notes:
  • For 1991 & later Gen V & Gen VI 454 (7.4L) HO & 502 HO engines. This flexplate is required when using a steel forged crank on Gen V design engines.
  • This flexplate is similar to Mark IV design but not interchangeable because of balance. It has a dual-bolt torque converter pattern design. When using a 4L80 automatic transmission, only three attaching bolts can be used.

At the opposite end of the crankshaft from the balancer is the flexplate, which connects the engine to the automatic transmission through the torque converter assembly. Flexplates help transfer power from the engine to the wheels. Chevrolet Performance offers both internally and externally balanced Chevy flexplates. It is critical that you use the correct design for your specific engine application. Engines with one-piece crankshaft seals require externally balanced flexplates (except for ZZ427, ZZ572/620, ZZ572/720R and the Anniversary Edition 427).

Note: Torque converters for TH350 and TH400 transmissions are produced with both 10.75" and 11.50" diameter converter bolt patterns. To identify the correct converter bolt pattern, measure from the converter center to an attaching bolt hole and then multiply this dimension by 2.
