Why waste time sourcing, cleaning, machining, and prepping an old core in hopes it will be usable when you could get a new, quality block without the expense of a full-race unit? Dart "SHP" Special High Performance Blocks enable you to affordably build a powerful, durable engine. Designed for high-performance and heavy-duty applications producing up to 600 horsepower, the SHP Block is an ideal starting point for hot rodders, drag racers, Circle Track competitors, off-roaders, and marine enthusiasts. .

One of the great provisions of the Dart SHP block is its ability to use OE hydraulic roller lifters. There are mounting bosses in the valley for a factory stamped steel spider, and the lifter bores are machined flat on top to accommodate the "dog bone" alignment bars used on OE hydraulic roller lifters. This allows an engine builder to take advantage of the fast acceleration and low maintenance of a hydraulic roller cam profile while using inexpensive stock-type lifters.

  • Designed for compatibility with stock components
  • Virtually ready to assemble right out of the box after a final cylinder hone
  • Precision machined from high-nickel cast iron
  • Decks even and parallel within .002"
  • Siamese bores 4.000" OR 4.125" (unfinished)
  • Cylinder walls .230" minimum at 4.165"
  • Priority main oiling system (oil is directed to main bearings first, then to cam bearings)
  • Splayed 4-bolt center three main caps
  • Blind head bolt holes
  • OE bolt holes for starter, clutch ball, etc.
  • Uses stock timing cover
  • Provisions for stock roller lifters and cams

    Tech Tip: Oiling System

    Tech Tip: Roller Lifters
