LM-1 Accessories
For maximum accuracy and control, the Bosch LSU4.2 wideband O2 sensor (part of the LM-1 Kit) is rated to operate at less than 1300°F EGT and less than 900°F sensor housing temperature (measured at the bung). When either range is exceeded, the sensor can no longer be controlled accurately, and the sensor's longevity is significantly reduced. Under such conditions, the LM-1 is designed to display an error message rather than provide inaccurate readings. This error message can occur with annoying frequency on some turbo vehicles, rotary engines, and other setups.

Five additional engine metrics can be logged and analyzed by connecting the LMA-3 to the LM-1's auxiliary input: RPM (using a tach signal or inductive clamp); EGT (exhaust gas temp) or CHT (cylinder head temp); injector duty cycle (dwell); MAP (manifold air pressure) or boost; and acceleration. The temperature measurement circuit has a K-type thermocouple; the MAP sensor is a three-bar absolute pressure sensor that provides accurate data up to 44.1 psia; and the internal accelerometer features two axis measurements. The LMA-3 converts the LM-1 to a complete tuning diagnostic. For example, correlating AFR, RPM, CHT, and MAP is vital when tuning piggyback fuel controllers, ECU programmers, aftermarket ECUs, or racing carburetors. Unlike a dyno, the LMA-3 can provide actual road test data, and it accommodates five external inputs to attach external sensors, such as TPS and suspension.
