Mallory’s UNILITE Breakerless Conversion Kit provides a simple conversion from the breaker points and condenser in many 8-cylinder Delco-Remy and Ford-Motorcraft distributors. The self-contained UNILITE module assembly has no moving parts to wear out. How does it work? The points are replaced by the UNILITE module which consists of an integrated photo coupler, a signal processor and a power switch. Each time the shutter wheel stops the infrared light from reaching the photo coupler, the electronic circuitry energizes the ignition coil. When the shutter wheel allows the infrared light to reach the photo coupler, the electronic circuitry allows the stored energy in the ignition coil to discharge. Using Mallory’s time tested breakerless ignition circuit, combined with modern surface mount Thermal-Clad construction, the Mallory UNILITE Breakerless Conversion Kit can drive both OEM and high performance ignition coils. For best results always use a Mallory PROMASTER Coil #650-29440, #650-29625 or Mallory Chrome Electronic Ignition Coil #650-29216. Converting to the UNILITE Breakerless Ignition is as easy as a three wire connection.
