2171 - ProMaxx Performance Small Block Chevy Aluminum Cylinder Heads is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad quality I bought the heads a month ago and installed them. These are on my Chevelle that I do not drive much. There is only a 3 month warranty which I feel shows how this manufacturer feels about their product. After about a half hour of warming the engine up, I backed the car out of the garage and noticed coolant starting to come out of the right side exhaust. I quickly pulled the car back into the garage and shut it down. At this point the coolant was steadily coming out of the exhaust like a garden hose running about 1/2 flow. I immediately removed the spark plugs and found no. 4 coolant pouring out. I removed the head and found a bb sized hole in the combustion chamber casting. I was told they were sold as a set so I needed to return them both for warranty which I did not feel comfortable leaving the other one on any way. When I called tech support before disassembling the head, they mentioned possibly a bad casting which leads me to believe they have had some bad castings in the past. Needless to say I have more down time and am missing a few car shows. I am displeased that they might know of the issue and still send out a bad quality product which in turn cost me quite a bit of time in the shop and more money in parts. I should have just spent the extra money in the first place and bought a better brand. I would have thought jegs would not sell this type of quality.

I want to know if these heads are recommended for roller hydraulic lifters. The springs look close to the Comp Cam 986-16's recommended for the retrofit cam, 12-422-8 I'm using. (315 lbs. vs 322 lbs.) but the Comp Cam springs are 1.430" O.D.

    Asked by: bearmail72
These springs are for hydraulic, flat tappet cams and do not have enough pressure for roller cams.
