SA Design Books: Lost Hot Rods
Lost Hot Rods attempts to answer the questions about what happened to some great, neglected cars. Nearly all of these vintage rods and customs were found in urban or suburban garages--possibly in your neighborhood--where they were parked years ago, maybe to save, perhaps torn apart for a rebuild, or in many cases projects that were never completed. Conditions of such finds range from rusty piles of parts to cobwebbed originals to show-quality stunners. This book shares the process of finding "lost" cars, including do-it-yourself tips. This book isn't about seeking vehicles for profit.
What's more important, and fun, is the search itself. IF you find a long-lost custom AND it's available AND affordable, putting it back on the road for its intended purpose is all the better. But answering "Whatever happened to...?" is the book's main goal. Many vintage photos of cars in their prime are shown, along with where they are and how they look now. What separates this book from others, however, is the background behind these cars. Discovering a vintage Corvette or Porsche or even a gennie Model A or Model T is cool, but hot rods and custom cars are very different. Each car is unique so each has a one-of-a-kind story and personal history, which makes Lost Hot Rods a special collection of stories plus "Then and Now" images.
