A throttle linkage connector joins the throttle butterfly assembly on a carburetor or throttle body to the throttle cable. There are different designs, which can include a ball / socket, eyelet, clip, snap-on, or other design. I nearly every case, the connector is designed to swivel as the throttle opens and rotates while the cable direction remains the same.

Depending on the carburetor, cable, and link (for example, Holley carb throttle linkage, Edelbrock throttle linkage), the installation of linkage will vary. However, most throttle linkage is installed with a small number of nuts and bolts to line up with the throttle cable. It then needs to be adjusted so that the throttle will open all the way when the gas pedal is all the way down, and closed when the throttle pedal is released.

Depending on the type of carburetor, cable, and linkage, the adjustment procedure will change. For some applications, there is not an option for adjusting the throttle linkage. The goal when adjusting the linkage is that the throttle is all the way open when the gas pedal is pushed all the way down and closed when the gas pedal is completely released. It helps to have an assistant to communicate if the linkage needs shortened or lengthened to properly set up the throttle linkage kit. Most adjustable throttle linkages utilize a threaded rod that can be turned or a nut on the threaded rod that can be turned in order to shorten or lengthen the throttle travel.
