Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter This is the second one I've bought, the first one lasting many years. Once you get it shimmed and clocked right for header clearance, it really works well. The only issue I ran into on the first one was, the insulation on the solenoid to starter wire deteriorated early on. Great starter though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JEGS mini starter. I bought this for a1964 Impala SS 327 I am building, everything worked out perfectly, no shims needed. This new starter is less than half the size and weight of the original, and it spins the new motor over no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit! I finally made the purchase of a mini starter after i couldn't start my car at a gas station due to heat soak issues. Ever since i installed it starts right up with no hesitation and i love it. No more embarrassing moments for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great This starter is a little bigger then other mini starters just had to wiggle it just a little bit lol, with 355 chevy 10.5.1 compression it cranks the engine very easily. The price and shipping from Jets is second to none. Keep up the good work

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Starter Having headers on my 71 Camaro I was looking for a smaller starter that would fit between the block and the headers and had the cranking power to turn over my high compression engine. No more looking this is the starter, awesome fit and a great starter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SBC Mini Starter Bought this because I was having troubles with OEM not engaging properly. Replaced OEM twice and still issue. This starter allowed for me to space it back from the flywheel farther than the other. Works awesome every time now. Needed the spacer to do this which Jegs sent me and now all is good.

I have a 454 big block with a m22 rock crusher. How many shims, if any, should I use? The engine is still in the car.

    Asked by: Sarah21
Each block is different, you will need to check the clearance when you install the starter. Many application do not need any shims.

I recently installed this on my 1995 Chevy K2500 4X4 5spd manual Silverado. After installation it’s getting power, but it’s not making contact with the flywheel. Any recommendations on how to make this work with my truck?
