Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tool I just bought this to rebuild my Porsche engine. I was worried about the spring but it is more than adequate. I zeroed it on one of my ARP bolts then removed it and put it back on several times. it was always zeroed. I even let go if it and it was still zeroed. the dial reads to .0005 which is nice since the stretch spec is .0100 to .0105. the spring feels fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price, hard to get an accurate read I like the gauge but agree that it's difficult to get an accurate reading. I appreciate the tips on the washer and spring. Something else that would help would be for Jeg's to change the rounded tip on the gauge to a pointed one like on the bottom. It's difficult to know when it's in the right place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from another review about adding a spring and a washer As other people have stated, it is a quality tool and well packaged. I Used a Lunati gauge which already has the added spring for years before I decided it was time to get my own (btw, thanks Dad!) Decided on this unit but the dial gauge is too weak to provide accurate results. I added a 3.5mm flat washer and a small tension spring. I did find that the O-Ring located at the top of the dial stem provided a .001" variation in repeat ability. Removing the O-ring, adding the flat washer and the spring did the trick. it was .75 cents to upgrade this unit, Well worth it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good tool for the money. First, I like that its American made. Second, it did the job with accuracy. Now I did have trouble with with the spring tension, so I had to modify the tip, with a washer, and a spring, so it would hold its self in position.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked great with a little mod. This worked great for the money, had to add a spring to the dial indicator to make it a litte stiffer so it sat on the rod bolt under its own weight. Other than that it's worth the purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy of use, nice looking product. My only criticism is that the indicator is too sloppy of a fit in the handle. You have to spend time to get it set properly with the base point. Checking the bolts by themselves is a breeze. Once they are installed in the rod the job is much more difficult.
