    78125HD is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed and ready to run I just finished the installation of this bearing, but haven't run it yet. So far, so good. The only issue I had was that the kit includes shims to position the bearing closer to the clutch fingers, and the instructions contain a very detailed explanation of how to calculate the gap between the bearing and the clutch fingers, and how to use the shims to reduce the gap to the required range. But the instructions barely touch on the other possibility, which I encountered - no gap at all. I solved this by shimming the transmission backward on the bellhousing (using an aluminum plate trimmed to fit the outline of the transmission), but there's a limit as to how much you can shim. The kit includes a hose. I bought a 2nd one, as there's no way to reach the bleeder fitting once it's installed inside the bellhousing.

The Ram 798-78125HD throwout bearing does not fit a '95 T5.

Does this only work for the newer Muncie transmissions or would I be able to install it on a 1950's Muncie SM420?

    Asked by: lookout
This is a universal kit, you will need to measure your transmissions input shaft and collar to see if this will fit.
