A lifter guide keeps each hydraulic lifter indexed to its bore so it cannot rotate out of position against the camshaft lobe. On Gen III and Gen IV LS-family engines the guides see constant heat cycling and oil exposure, and a cracked or warped guide lets a lifter tilt, producing a tick that will not clear with an oil change. This ACDelco guide is molded to the factory bore spacing for Select GM V6 and V8 Engines and drops back in during a lifter or camshaft service.
