AT-1055 Bolt-on Transmission Mount for 1936-1954 Chevy Top-Hat Frames
This reinforced transmission cross member for 1936-1954 Chevy €œTop-Hat€ frames bolts under the frame for added strength and support.
Chassis Engineering Transmission Crossmember tubes are internally reinforced, heavy duty 1 3/4 in. OD tubing with a 3/16 in. wall.

Note: Requires some fitting to individual frame. Mock-up installation, cut the cross member tube to length, weld on the mounting flanges and bolt everything in place.
If you prefer, we also offer the AT-1054 Transmission Crossmember for Chevrolet Top-Hat Frames, which mounts between the frame walls and features a 4 in. drop for center clearance.
Installation Instructions:
Universal Transmission Mount For Chevrolet Turbo 350,400, 3&4 Speed Manual and various other transmissions for Chevrolet Top Hat Car Frames
Step 1. Place reinforcing plates/transmission mount under frame and setup with transmission and engine.
Step 2. Prepare crossmember for cutting by holding it under the frame, and marking the excess material. Recheck all measurements and clearances. Remove and cut to length.
Step 3. Clamp in place. Locate and drill holes.
Step 4. Bolt the support rods to the back of the crossmember, Center mounting pads under frame rail and clamp in place. Drill holes to the bottom of the frame. When sure of spacing, drill all eight 3/8 in. holes through the bottom lip of the frame.
Step 5: Transmission floor cover plate may need to be clearanced to miss the transmission.
