The new block design accommodates up to 4.125" cylinder bores and 4.000" stroke crankshafts, allowing the flexibility to build engines from 3.0L to 5.2L. New splayed 4-bolt main bearing caps are machined from 4340 chrome-moly steel with precision ground mating surfaces. An upgraded dry sump oiling system has three V8-style oil galleries above the cam tunnel for trouble-free lubrication at high RPM. The deck surface is .620" thick, and the front and rear bulkheads are reinforced. Flared head bolt boss holes have been blind-tapped to eliminate coolant leaks but can be drilled to full depth for turbocharged applications.
