- LS 5.3L Engine Control Kit
This controller is engineered for the following enginecodes, which feature 58X ignition systems:

Installation Notes:
Installing the ECM - The ECM is the brain of the controller. It is weather-resistantand can be mounted under the hood, but it should be placed to avoid extremeheat and away from potential splash. Chevrolet Performance does not recommendmounting it directly to the engine.
Accelerator pedal - Chevrolet Performance's controller kits are designed for usewith factory-type electronic throttles (no conventional throttle cable) that requirea matched accelerator pedal. The pedal contains an electronic sensor that conveysto the controller when and how much to open the throttle. The pedal shouldme mounted at least 2.5 inches to the right of the brake pedal and 2 inchesbelow it. There should be at least 0.75-inch clearance between the pedal and thetransmission tunnel/center console. The pedal has a wire harness that connectsto the controller, requiring it to be fed through the firewall - possibly requiring anew hole. Use a grommet on the hole to prevent chafing of the harness.
MAF - The mass airflow meter that comes with some Chevrolet Performancecontroller kits must be mounted in a 4-inch-diameter tube that has at least a6-inch-long straight section. The kit includes the bracket and mounting bossesonto which the meter is secured on the tube - the tube must be cut to allowthe meter to hang inside of it. The meter sensor must be mounted at the centerof the straight section, making sure that is at least 10 inches from the throttlebody. Orienting the MAF is essential for proper operation. The meter's sensorshould be mounted with the connector end pointed between horizontal and fullyupright.
Oxygen sensors - The oxygen sensors (one for each side of the exhaust) mustbe inserted in the exhaust stream ahead of the catalytic converters (if used).Holes are simply drilled into the exhaust tubing and the mounting bosses weldedto them. After that, the oxygen sensors simply screw onto the mounting bossesand are connected to the wire harness.

This calibrated controller kit from Chevrolet Performanceenables the quicker and easier adaptation of GM's popular5.3L V-8 for countless hot rod projects. It works with 2005-2009 5.3L engines and is specially programmed for retrofitinstallations, with features that make getting the vehiclerunning easier than if a production 5.3L controller were used.The kit also includes hardware and components that don'ttypically come with used engines, such as the wiring harness,mass airflow meter and electronic throttle pedal - eliminatingthe need to source them separately.
Unlike the calibration for regular-production controllers, thisspecially calibrated 5.3L controller does not engage thecylinder-deactivating Active Fuel Management system thatoriginally came with the engines. A number of other featuresassociated with production-model systems are turned off withthe controller, as well, eliminating the possibility of "troublecodes" being set. It is also programmed for easy use withautomatic transmissions and includes a SES (service enginesoon) LED indicator embedded in the fuse box.
This 5.3L controller system is a true stand-alone system for usein older vehicles, as all that's needed to get a vehicle runningwith it are power and ground sources, a 58-psi (400 kPa) fuelpump and an electric cooling fan.
