    Engine Break-In Procedure

Fill the engine with Mobil 1 15W50 motor oil and follow the proper engine priming procedure.  Also check and fill as required any other necessary fluids such as coolant, power steering fluid, etc.

Start the engine and listen for any unusual noises. If no unusual noises are noted, run the engine from idle to approximately 1800 RPM, then 0% throttle back to idle. Perform this sequence continuously up and down until normal operating temperature is reached. DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE AT A CONSTANT HIGH RPM WITH NO LOAD. VARYING RPM, IDLE TO 1800 RPM UP AND DOWN IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED. The engine should be run for one hour without wide-open throttle (WOT) or sustained high RPM accelerations. When possible, you should always allow the engine to warm up prior to driving. It is a good practice to allow the oil sump and water temperature to reach 180°F before applying heavy loads or performing hard acceleration runs. Run 5-6 medium-throttle accelerations to about 4500 rpm and let off in gear and coast back down to 2000 rpm, after each acceleration.  Perform several (WOT) accelerations to 5000 rpm. Allow the engine to return to idle, with the throttle blade shut. This procedure will assist in seating the rings properly.  Change the oil and filter.

The Race-Ready LS Built For The Strip!

The all-new Chevrolet Performance DR525 drag racing crate engine, designed as the spec engine for National Muscle Car Association's new LS Stock racing class in the LSX Showdown Challenge Series. This 6.2L (376 cubic inches) naturally aspirated engine is rated at 525 horsepower and features several tamper-proof bolts to ensure class compliance. Chevrolet Performance's custom-calibrated E67-type engine control system (p/n 809-19329003, sold separately) must be used with the DR525 in the LS Stock class. It features a tamper-proof engine control unit.

On the inside, the DR525 crate engine is built with components designed to meet the high standards of competitive racing. The 376 cubic inch aluminum block is packed with a sturdy reciprocating assembly that combines with LS3-type rectangular-port heads to deliver a 10.7:1 compression ratio. A high-lift, hydraulic roller camshaft delivers a whopping 0.525-inch of lift on the 2.16-inch intake valves and 0.525-inch lift on the 1.59-inch exhaust valves, enhancing the LS3's tremendous airflow and broad torque curve.

LS Stock overview
NMCA's LS Stock class in the LSX Showdown Challenge Series is a naturally aspirated heads-up class designed for 1955-later vehicles and is designed as a low-cost, entry level heads-up class. All entries must compete on accepted suspensions and at the same base weight of 3,300 pounds. The class is an all-run, heads-up field using a .400 Pro Tree start. Additionally, all entries are required to read and sign a racer's contract to prevent class participants from tampering with and/or altering the factory-sealed Chevrolet Performance DR525 crate engine and requisite engine control system.
