Some measurements have no room for a caliper: a spring pocket, a groove, or an installed height with the head assembled. A telescoping gauge expands to fit the space, locks, and then gets read with a micrometer outside the hole. This set covers 5/16 in. to 6 in. across six gauges, which is the range most engine work falls into.

- The Comp Cams Telescoping Gauge Set allows you to quickly measure the inside diameter of everything from basic bore diameter, to grooves, to hard-to-reach recesses. Simply insert the gauge into the area, turn the knob and the spring-fed arms will snap to the outer edges. Now, tighten the knob to lock the inside measurement then use a Micrometer to obtain the desired measurement.
