- These are precision machined, specially coated and processed gears that are compatible with cast flat faced and steel roller camshafts. Since roller camshafts are made of either induction hardened or carburized steel, neither of these materials is compatible with the normal stock distributor gears. In the past, "bronze" distributor gears were used with these roller camshafts. In street applications, these gears can wear at a quicker rate, requiring preventative maintenance. No more worrying about which gear is correct for what camshaft, as these can be used for any application.
