Rocker studs carry every bit of valve spring load, and a stud that stretches or pulls its threads takes the rocker geometry with it. These are chromoly with a black oxide finish, threaded 3/8 in. coarse at the rocker end and 7/16 in. fine into the head, which is the arrangement that gives a stronger anchor in the casting.
